About Color

They told me I should use color in my work.

I find color most seductive when rendered in shades of grey. I know from scuba diving how the prettiest colors are the first to go as you descend. The reds and the oranges, the parrotfish green, until form dominates hue. And so it is with art that originates in the deep.

Treasure the obsidian blacks and most tender greys: they are salvaged at great peril to the artist.
